TOEFL Academic Discussionで使えるテンプレート｜10分で書く型

TOEFL Writingで対策しておきたいタスクのひとつが、Writing for an Academic Discussionです。

Academic Discussionでは、教授の質問と他の学生の投稿を読んだうえで、自分の意見をオンラインディスカッションに投稿するような形で書きます。

10分という短い時間で、自分の立場、理由、具体例を入れて、分かりやすく意見を伝える必要があります。

そこで役立つのが、Academic Discussion用のテンプレートです。

ただし、テンプレートは丸暗記してそのまま貼り付けるものではありません。

大切なのは、テンプレートを使って、

• 自分の立場をすぐに示す
• 理由を1つに絞る
• 具体例で主張を支える
• 他の学生の意見に短く触れる
• 最後に自分の意見をまとめる

という流れを安定させることです。

この記事では、TOEFL Academic Discussionで使えるテンプレートを、賛成・反対・一部賛成・他の学生の意見に触れる場合に分けて紹介します。

TOEFL Academic Discussionのテンプレートは必要？

TOEFL Academic Discussionでは、テンプレートを持っておくとかなり書きやすくなります。

理由は、10分という短い時間の中で、毎回ゼロから構成を考えるのは難しいからです。

テンプレートがあると、次のようなメリットがあります。

• 書き出しで迷いにくい
• 自分の意見を最初に示しやすい
• 理由と具体例の流れを作りやすい
• 時間内にまとめやすい
• 文法ミスを減らしやすい

ただし、テンプレートに頼りすぎると、不自然な回答になることがあります。

Academic Discussionでは、教授の質問に対して、自分の意見を自然に投稿する必要があります。

そのため、テンプレートは「暗記した文章をそのまま出すもの」ではなく、「10分で考えを整理するための型」として使いましょう。

Academic Discussionの基本構成

Academic Discussionでは、長いエッセイを書く必要はありません。

基本は、次の4要素を入れることです。

まずは、次のようなシンプルな型を安定させるのがおすすめです。

I agree with the idea that [自分の立場]. One reason is that [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

この型だけでも、Academic Discussionの基本的な回答は作れます。

まず覚えたい基本テンプレート

Academic Discussionで最初に覚えるなら、次のテンプレートがおすすめです。

I [agree/disagree] with the idea that [自分の立場]. One reason is that [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

基本テンプレートの例

問題が「大学はすべての学生にpublic speaking classesを必修にすべきか」という内容だった場合、次のように書けます。

I agree with the idea that universities should require students to take public speaking classes. One reason is that communication skills are useful in many professional situations. For example, employees often need to explain their ideas clearly in meetings or presentations. Therefore, this class can help students prepare for their future careers.

この回答には、次の要素が入っています。

立場：

public speaking classesに賛成

理由：

仕事でコミュニケーション力が役立つ

具体例：

会議やプレゼンで考えを説明する必要がある

まとめ：

将来のキャリア準備になる

まずは、このように短くても流れが分かる回答を目指しましょう。

賛成するときのテンプレート

教授の質問に対して賛成する場合は、最初に立場をはっきり書きます。

賛成テンプレート1：基本形

I agree with the idea that [自分の立場]. One reason is that [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

例文

I agree with the idea that universities should offer more online courses. One reason is that online classes give students more flexibility. For example, students who work part-time can watch recorded lectures after work and still keep up with their courses. Therefore, online learning can make higher education more accessible to a wider range of students.

賛成テンプレート2：他の学生に賛成する形

I agree with [Student A] that [相手の意見]. This is because [理由]. For example, [具体例]. For this reason, [まとめ].

例文

I agree with Anna that online courses can be useful for students with busy schedules. This is because flexible learning options allow students to study at a time that works for them. For example, a student who has a part-time job can review recorded lectures in the evening. For this reason, online courses can help students balance school with other responsibilities.

賛成テンプレート3：強く賛成する形

I strongly support the idea that [自分の立場] because [理由]. For instance, [具体例]. This shows that [まとめ].

例文

I strongly support the idea that universities should teach financial literacy because students need practical knowledge to manage money after graduation. For instance, students who learn how to budget and save may be less likely to face serious debt in adult life. This shows that financial education can prepare students for real-world responsibilities.

反対するときのテンプレート

反対する場合も、最初の文で立場を明確にします。

反対テンプレート1：基本形

I disagree with the idea that [相手の意見]. This is because [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Instead, I think [自分の提案・考え].

例文

I disagree with the idea that all university classes should be online. This is because students also need face-to-face interaction to develop communication skills. For example, classroom discussions allow students to respond to others immediately and learn how to express their opinions clearly. Instead, I think universities should combine online and in-person classes.

反対テンプレート2：他の学生に反対する形

I understand [Student B]’s point that [相手の意見], but I disagree because [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

例文

I understand David’s point that public speaking classes may be stressful for shy students, but I disagree because supportive practice can help students build confidence gradually. For example, students can begin with small group discussions before giving formal presentations. Therefore, public speaking classes can be useful if they are taught in a supportive way.

反対テンプレート3：条件付きで反対する形

I do not think [相手の意見] is the best approach because [理由]. A better solution would be to [代替案]. For example, [具体例].

例文

I do not think replacing all textbooks with digital materials is the best approach because some students may find it harder to focus on screens for long periods. A better solution would be to offer both printed and digital options. For example, students could use digital materials for quick searches while still reading longer texts on paper.

一部賛成するときのテンプレート

Academic Discussionでは、完全に賛成・反対ではなく、一部賛成で書くこともできます。

ただし、一部賛成で書く場合は、自分が最終的にどちら寄りなのかを分かりやすくすることが大切です。

一部賛成テンプレート1：基本形

I partly agree with this idea. While [認める点], I believe that [自分の立場]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

例文

I partly agree with this idea. While online learning gives students more flexibility, I believe that in-person classes are still important for discussion-based courses. For example, students can learn how to exchange opinions and respond to classmates more naturally in a classroom. Therefore, online classes should support, not completely replace, face-to-face learning.

一部賛成テンプレート2：メリットは認めるが反対寄り

Although [認める点], I do not think [相手の意見] should be fully adopted because [理由]. For example, [具体例].

例文

Although AI tools can help students review difficult concepts, I do not think students should rely on them too much because they also need to develop their own thinking skills. For example, if students ask AI to complete every assignment, they may not learn how to organize ideas by themselves.

一部賛成テンプレート3：両方必要だと書く形

I can see both sides, but I believe that [自分の立場]. This is because [理由]. For example, [具体例].

例文

I can see both sides, but I believe that universities should offer both online and in-person classes. This is because students have different learning styles and personal situations. For example, some students may need online courses because they work part-time, while others may learn better through face-to-face discussions.

他の学生の意見に触れるテンプレート

Academic Discussionでは、他の学生の意見に短く触れると、ディスカッションらしい回答になります。

ただし、学生の意見を長く要約しすぎる必要はありません。

賛成してつなげるテンプレート

I agree with [Student A] that [相手の意見]. I would add that [自分の追加意見]. For example, [具体例].

例文

I agree with Maria that practical skills are important for university students. I would add that these skills can help students become more independent after graduation. For example, students who learn how to manage money or communicate professionally may adapt more easily to adult life.

反対してつなげるテンプレート

While [Student B] makes a valid point about [相手の懸念], I believe that [自分の意見]. This is because [理由].

例文

While David makes a valid point about the stress caused by public speaking, I believe that students can overcome this fear through gradual practice. This is because a supportive classroom can help students build confidence step by step.

相手の意見を認めて、自分の意見を足すテンプレート

Building on [Student A]’s idea, I would add that [自分の意見]. For example, [具体例].

例文

Building on Anna’s idea, I would add that online learning can also help students review difficult material more effectively. For example, recorded lectures allow students to pause and replay explanations whenever they need to.

他の学生に触れるときの注意点

他の学生の意見を長く説明しすぎると、自分の意見を書く時間が減ります。

避けたい例

Anna says that online learning is convenient because students can study at home. David says that online learning is not good because students cannot talk to each other. Anna thinks flexibility is important, and David thinks communication is important.

このように、学生の意見を要約するだけで終わると、自分の主張が弱くなります。

改善例

I understand David’s concern about reduced interaction, but I believe online learning can still be effective if universities include live discussions and group work.

短く触れて、自分の意見に進む方が自然です。

反論・譲歩を入れるテンプレート

Academic Discussionでは、別の意見を少し認めたうえで自分の考えを書くと、バランスのよい回答になります。

譲歩テンプレート

Although [反対側の意見・懸念], I believe that [自分の意見] because [理由].

例文

Although online learning may reduce face-to-face interaction, I believe it should still be offered as an option because it gives students more flexibility.

反論テンプレート

This concern is understandable, but [自分の反論].

例文

This concern is understandable, but public speaking classes can be designed to help shy students practice in a gradual and supportive way.

問題を軽減できると書くテンプレート

This problem can be reduced if [対策].

例文

This problem can be reduced if professors include live discussions and small group activities in online courses.

譲歩や反論は便利ですが、10分の回答では長く書きすぎないことが大切です。

1文程度で十分です。

10分で使いやすい短めテンプレート

Academic Discussionでは、長いテンプレートよりも、短く使いやすい型の方が便利です。

ここでは、10分で使いやすい短めテンプレートを紹介します。

最短テンプレート

I agree/disagree with this idea because [理由]. For example, [具体例]. Therefore, [まとめ].

例文

I agree with this idea because online classes give students more flexibility. For example, students who work part-time can watch lectures after work. Therefore, online learning can help students continue their education more easily.

100語前後で書くテンプレート

I agree/disagree with the idea that [立場]. One reason is that [理由]. This is important because [説明]. For example, [具体例]. For this reason, [まとめ].

例文

I agree with the idea that universities should offer more online courses. One reason is that online learning gives students more control over their schedules. This is important because many students have part-time jobs or family responsibilities. For example, a student who works in the afternoon can watch recorded lectures in the evening. For this reason, online courses can make higher education more accessible to different types of students.

他の学生に触れる短めテンプレート

I understand [Student A]’s point that [相手の意見], but I believe [自分の意見] because [理由]. For example, [具体例].

例文

I understand David’s point that online classes may reduce interaction, but I believe they can still be effective because universities can include live discussions. For example, students can work in small groups online and exchange ideas in real time.

テンプレートを使うときの注意点

テンプレートは便利ですが、使い方を間違えると不自然になります。

問題に合わないテンプレートを使わない

例えば、教授の質問が「どちらの方法がよいと思うか」と聞いているのに、何でも `There are advantages and disadvantages` で始めると、自分の立場が分かりにくくなります。

Academic Discussionでは、最初に自分の立場を出す方が自然です。

避けたい例

There are both advantages and disadvantages to this issue.

改善例

I believe that universities should offer more online courses because they give students greater flexibility.

同じ表現を毎回使いすぎない

毎回同じ表現で始めると、テンプレート感が強くなります。

例えば、いつも次の形だけを使うと単調になります。

I agree with this idea because ...

言い換えとして、次のような表現も使えます。

I support this idea because ...

I believe this approach would be useful because ...

I think this would be beneficial because ...

理由を抽象的にしない

テンプレートを使っても、理由が浅いと説得力が弱くなります。

弱い例

I agree with this idea because it is good for students.

改善例

I agree with this idea because it helps students manage their schedules more flexibly.

具体例を必ず入れる

Academic Discussionでは、理由だけで終わると内容が浅く見えやすいです。

テンプレートを使うときも、できるだけ具体例を1つ入れましょう。

For example, students who work part-time can watch recorded lectures after work.

自分の意見を弱くしすぎない

他の学生の意見に触れることは大切ですが、他の学生の要約で終わらないようにしましょう。

Academic Discussionでは、自分の投稿として意見を示す必要があります。

テンプレートを使った練習方法

テンプレートは、読むだけでは使えるようになりません。

実際に短文や回答の中で使う練習が必要です。

Step 1. テンプレートを1つ選ぶ

まず、使いやすいテンプレートを1つ選びます。

Step 2. 3つのテーマで短文を作る

同じテンプレートを使って、3つのテーマで短文を作ります。

テーマ1：オンライン授業

I agree with the idea that universities should offer more online classes. One reason is that they give students more flexibility. For example, students who work part-time can study after work. Therefore, online classes can help more students continue their education.

テーマ2：public speaking

I agree with the idea that students should take public speaking classes. One reason is that speaking skills are useful in many jobs. For example, employees often need to explain their ideas in meetings. Therefore, these classes can prepare students for their future careers.

テーマ3：AI tools

I partly agree with the idea that students should use AI tools. One reason is that AI can help students review difficult concepts. For example, students can ask AI to explain a lecture in simpler words. Therefore, AI can be useful if students use it to support their own learning.

Step 3. 表現を少しずつ変える

次に、同じ型でも表現を少し変えてみます。

Step 4. 10分で1本書く

慣れてきたら、10分でAcademic Discussionを1本書きます。

時間配分は次の通りです。

Step 5. 添削を受ける

書いたら、AI添削や先生の添削で確認します。

見るべきポイントは次の通りです。

• 質問に答えているか
• 自分の立場が明確か
• 理由が具体的か
• 具体例があるか

• 文法や語彙のミスが多くないか

TOEFL Academic Discussionのテンプレートは、覚えるだけでは使えるようになりません。

実際に問題に答えて、テンプレートが自然に使えているかを確認する必要があります。
